Our Guardian Programme
What is our Guardian Breeding Program?
We are committed to giving our puppies and dogs the best possible life they can have. Labradoodles are a breed that are wonderful companion dogs and love human company. We have 4 dogs of our own Shilo, Inca, Maple, and Cruz that live with us and are our family pets and companions.
In order to expand our breeding program and give our breeding Girls and Boys the best life and care that they deserve, we created our Guardian breeding program around 6 years ago. Our breeding dogs are carefully selected as pups and placed with guardian families and live a normal family life except for the short periods when they come back to us for around 7 weeks to whelp and raise their puppies, and then go back to their families.
All our Guardian girls have no more than 2 litters. We are committed to all our dogs living in a family home environment where they are loved and nurtured, not in a Kennel situation.
Our boys of course are only needed for short periods of time to go on a ‘honeymoon’. When our dogs retire from our breeding program they are already with their “forever family” and we pay for them to be spayed/neutered. We cover all breeding-related expenses.
If you become a guardian family the dog is your pet but we essentially own breeding rights to them.
Our requirements to be a Guardian family
Our requirements to be a Guardian family is that you need to live within 2 hours of the Nelson area.
We expect our guardian dogs to be well cared for (grooming, training, and general veterinary needs) and fed a premium diet by their guardian families.
Guardian families are required to sign a contract.
